Sanju Samson made his international debut way back in 2015 against Zimbabwe but hasn’t played ever since. This year, he played for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and churned out some match-winning knocks for his franchise. His highest score of 92 came against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

He turned out to be a dependable batsman for them. The knocks didn’t elude the eyes of the selectors and he was selected in the India A team for their tour of England. However, he was sidelined owing the reason that he couldn’t pass the much-debated yo-yo test. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) made passing the test a compulsory one to stay in the team.

He was unable to breach the benchmark of 16.1 and subsequently, missed the cut. Ishan Kishan, the Bihar-born player was roped in as his replacement. In the same month, Samson met MS Dhoni, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, who is deemed to be an epitome of endurance, stamina, and perseverance, in Bangalore.

The meet must have been beneficial for the Trivandrum-born player as many cricketers have gained priceless knowledge rubbing shoulders with the veteran. After failing the test, he buckled down and picked himself up to make a comeback. He worked relentlessly for the next four weeks and attained the desired level of fitness.

Recently, he passed the same yo-yo test with flying colours and sounded delighted on the achievement. The 23-year old also thanked his well-wishers for showering love and support during his tough times. In the meantime, he also revealed his recent and previous score.

He took to Instagram, posted a video and wrote, “Yo yo !! Passed … From 15.6 to 17.3 in 4 weeks !!! Thank you all for your support and wishes !!”
