Pakistan beat England in the first Test match at Lords and ahead of the second Test match, England had sought the help of the former Pakistan great Saqlain Mushtaq to counter the leg-spin of Yasir Shah and also to help the England spinners with some tips.

Pakistan won the first Test by 75 runs and the major contributor in the win was Yasir Shah. The leg-spinner bagged a 10-wicket match haul. After the match-winning performance, he also became the no.1 ranked Test bowler.

According to the reports from ‘Express Tribune’, former Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram said that Saqlain Mushtaq would surely turn out to be beneficial for England, as he exactly knows where and how to hit Pakistan. Saqlain’s short stint with England is also expected to help the England spinners, Adil Rasheed and Moeen Ali tactically and guide them the right way.

Wasim also praised Yasir Shah on his performance saying that his addition is a great advantage for the Pakistan team and that the hosts would surely be wary of him.

Yasir was awarded as the player of the match as he returned to the figures of 6 for 72 and 4 for 69 across the two innings to gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series. He has been highly effective, especially the way he picked his wickets in the first innings, where there was not much help for the spinners. He varied his pace and flight, which allowed the ball to drift and the rest is history.

The Misbah-ul-Haq-led side is playing the second match against England at Old Trafford starting today.
