With his mother reportedly in a critical state, 31-year old Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed has taken the early flight back home to tend to his personal matters. This will throw a massive wrench into proceedings as far as they now are missing both Mohammad Irfan and Sarfraz Ahmed.

Azhar Ali, the skipper of the Pakistan side also went on to inform the reporters present regarding the absence of Sarfraz. Azhar also went on to state that this would be a massive blow for the side as they would now look to patch the holes. This patch up could perhaps be in the form of either Umar Akmal or Mohammad Rizwan.

However, at the moment, it is clear that Umar Akmal is favorite to get the gloves in the short term at the very least.

Azhar also went on to add a word on the practice match that was played a few days back, something that impressed quite a bit. “We’ll definitely miss Sarfraz tomorrow. Hopefully, he can rejoin the team but, as for right now, he’s not here,” Azhar told reporters. I know it wasn’t a very competitive game, but I still believe the batsmen who scored runs will get a lot of confidence,” he said.

Azhar Ali also went on to state that the bowlers also went on to have a great game against the Australian XI. “The bowlers had a good outing as well. There’s nothing like playing matches. It’s good to be out there no matter what sort of team you play against.”
