Rain has spoiled the fun for all the cricket fans across the globe as there has been a delay in the start of the final of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship. India and New Zealand are scheduled to lock horns in the WTC final at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

However, the persistent drizzle in the United Kingdom (UK) on Day 1 of the Test match washed out the first session along with causing a delay in the toss. The chances of rain stopping look bleak and the day one of the WTC final is expected to be wasted.

The cricket fans can be greeted with similar visuals for the entire duration of the Test match from June 18 to June 22 as the weather forecast suggest that there will be overcast conditions for the next week in Southampton. In addition, the weather forecast for June 23, which is kept as a reserve day, doesn’t look pleasant either.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has kept June 23 as a reserve day to compensate for any loss of game during the five days of a Test match. However, if the rain continues and the Test match is washed out, then both New Zealand and India will share the Test mace.

Wasim Jaffer posts a hilarious meme on his Twitter handle

The continuous drizzle in the United Kingdom (UK) has also caused a meme-fest on Twitter as the cricket fans are coming up with hilarious memes to describe the entire scenario. Domestic legend and former Indian cricketers Wasim Jaffer also shared a funny meme to represent the situation of the entire Indian cricket fans.

Jaffer is a popular figure on social media and is quite active on Twitter. Jaffer tagged Dinesh Karthik while sharing a meme that read, “The nation wants to know when will it stop raining in Southampton.”

Notably, veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Karthik is in the UK to cover the final of the World Test Championship. The KKR player took note of the post by Jaffer as he replied back with a meme. The meme shared by Karthik read, “Saturday ko aana haan”
