This game will be live on Singapore Cricket Association

Preview:

Malaysia Women seal yet another Saudari Cup as they took a 2-0 lead in the 3-match T20I series against the Singapore Women. The Malaysian team won the first three editions of this cup in 2014, 2015 and 2016 by a 2-1 margin. The last year’s edition was the first to have official International status. Malaysia, who hosted the Singapore Women, clinched the 6-match T20I series by a 4-2 margin.

In a must-win game to stay alive in the series, the hosts Singapore elected to bat first on Thursday. The majority of their innings crawled under 4 runs an over as they finished with only 91 in the 20 overs despite losing only three wickets. Malaysia chased it down with nine wickets in hand and needed only 13.5 overs. The scoring rate did cost the first match of the series for the home team.

Weather Condition/Report:

The first two matches went through without any interruptions and the same is expected for the last game. Isolated thunderstorms were predicted on Thursday but nothing affected the game. Rainfall is expected in the early hours on Friday. This could leave a bit of moisture over the track.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The Indian Association Ground was on the slower side on Thursday. However, some poor batting from Singapore made it tougher and finished with only 91/3. The hosts needed at least 120 to give fight but fell way too short. Anything under six runs an over is easy to chase at this venue.

Average first innings score: 107 (Women’s T20I matches)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 2, Lost – 2

Probable Playing XIs:

Top Picks:

GK Diviya might have gone into a shell with the bat in the 2nd T20I but has the best record with bat and ball across both teams. Mas Elysa is also on the same lines but in the Malaysia camp. Rajeshwari Butler showed a glimpse of what she can do with the bat in the previous match. Young Dhavina Sharma has taken 3 wickets in two matches thus far.

Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:

Captain – GK Diviya, Mas Elysa, Winifred Duraisingam, Rajeshwari Butler

Vice-captain – Smruthi Radhakrishnan, Ainna Hamizah Hashim, Dhavina Sharma, Wan Julia

Not often we get to see players bowling the first over and taking the first strike in the same game for their team. But Malaysia skipper Winifred Duraisingam does the both. She completes her full 4 overs quota which makes here a perfect choice for captain or vice-captain.

Suggested Playing XI for Head to Head/Small Leagues:

Keeper – Shafina Mahesh

Batters – Yusrina Yaakop, Mahirah Izzati Ismail, Rajeshwari Butler

All-Rounders – Mas Elysa (C), GK Diviya (VC), Winifred Duraisingam, Dhavina Sharma

Bowlers – Roshni Romesh, Wan Nor Zulaika, Nur Nadihirah

Suggested Playing XI for Grand Leagues/Mega Leagues:

Keeper – Wan Julia

Batters – Mahirah Izzati Ismail, Rajeshwari Butler, Ishita Shukla

All-Rounders – Winifred Duraisingam (VC), GK Diviya (C), Mas Elysa, Dhavina Sharma

Bowlers – Smruthi Radhakrishnan, Wan Nor Zulaika, Nur Arianna Natsya

Expert Advice:

The four players in the all-rounders’ category – GK Diviya, Winifred Duraisingam, Dhavina Sharma and Mas Elysa are a must in the fantasy team. These four have to be in the team at any cost given the impact they make every time they take the field.

Probable Winners:

Malaysia Women are expected to complete a whitewash unless Singapore Women come out all guns blazing with the bat.
