Australian swashbuckling batsman Chris Lynn, who injured himself during the Trans-Tasman T20 tri-nation series final against New Zealand, now looks doubtful for the Indian Premier League (IPL). Lynn dislocated his right shoulder after an awkward land while fielding in Australia’s 19-run victory over the Black Caps in the summit clash in Auckland on Wednesday.

Lynn is scheduled to have further scans on his injured shoulder when he arrives back in Australia, which will shed light if the 27-year-old can take up his multi-million dollar lucrative IPL contract. The explosive T20 specialist was signed by the KKR in a $1.5 million deal in January, making him the costliest Australian at the IPL auction.

He has already been ruled out of the second edition of Pakistan Super League, which he was scheduled to join in the United Arab Emirates next week. The timeframe on his recovery is yet uncertain at this stage. Lynn will undergo scans in Brisbane, which will determine his immediate playing future.

According to TOI, the Aussie said, “I’m disappointed to not go to the Pakistan Super League as planned, but I’ll now focus on rehabilitation and working as hard as I can, with the hope to still take part in the Indian Premier League later this year.”

Chris Lynn will miss out on IPL cash if he fails to play

Lynn, who has a history of shoulder trouble, has been struggling with the issue for quite some time. He had even undergone a shoulder reconstruction surgery last year in July, but the problem seems to be recurring.

According to reports, Lynn will also miss out on his IPL cash if the shoulder injury prevents him from playing. If Lynn lands in Kolkata but does not play a match he would receive half his fee, but if he is ruled out before the tournament he will not be paid any amount.
