The Adelaide Strikers have been a tad scratchy in the 2020-21 edition of the Big Bash League. In their first four games, they managed to win two and are precariously placed in the bottom half of the points table.

Their next match is against Ashton Turner’s Perth Scorchers on Monday, December 28. Moreover, the Strikers would get to play at their home ground in Adelaide for the maiden time. On head-to-head count, there’s nothing to separate the teams with eight wins apiece. But in Adelaide, the Strikers have won four of six times.

The Strikers will also have their captain Alex Carey in the next match. The Scorchers will also be bolstered with the inclusion of Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone. The Scorchers have a point in their kitty, but they are yet to win a single match thus far.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch in Adelaide has been an excellent one over the years. The average first innings score shows that the team, batting first gets a fair bit of advantage. Hence, chasing can be avoided.

The temperature will be around the 17 degrees Celsius mark with the humidity in the 40s. There are no chances of rain and therefore an uninterrupted match can be expected.

Average first-innings score

182 (5 unaffected matches in BBL 2020-21)

Record of the chasing teams

Won – 2; Lost – 3

Probable Top Performers for SCO vs STR

Mitchell Marsh– Perth Scorchers

Mitchell Marsh has been a vital cog for the Scorchers for a few seasons and his team looks up to him to deliver every time he steps on the field. He started this season’s BBL with a couple of failures.

But the unbeaten 52 he smashed against the Sydney Thunder should give him a lot of confidence. He played at a strike-rate of 126.83 with one four and three sixes and he looked in decent rhythm.

Alex Carey– Adelaide Strikers

Alex Carey didn’t play the Strikers’ last game against the Brisbane Heat and his role is going to be extremely critical. In the two matches he has batted in, the left-handed batsman has managed to notch 64 runs including a top-score of 55.

Though the Strikers have won two out of four games, they have looked a tad out of sorts. Carey will hope to take his team up the ladder going forward in the event.
