Pakistan continued their dominance in the T20I format as they rushed through a big 84-run win against Scotland to seal the 2-match T20I series 2-0. The visiting side was off to a flyer as their openers added 60 in 7.2 overs. However, they struggled to get going in the middle overs and were reduced to 98/5 by 14th over. Shoaib Malik came to rescue with a 22-ball 49 to take his side’s total to 166/6. Scotland never looked like they were going to chase it down and were bundled out for just 82.

Here are all the stats and numbers that were recorded during the 2nd T20I game:

7 – This win is the 7th consecutive win for Pakistan in the T20I format starting from the 2nd T20I game against New Zealand in January. This is the joint longest winning streak for Pakistan in T20I cricket as they won seven matches in a row in 2009.


8 – This series win is Pakistan’s 8th consecutive bilateral T20I series victory (including one-off) since the conclusion of the WT20 2016. No other team has won more than four T20I series’ in a row.


10 – Shoaib Malik hit 10 sixes in this T20I series which is the most by a Pakistan player in a T20I series/tournament. No player hit more than seven sixes in a bilateral T20I series while Imran Nazir (in 2007) and Umar Akmal (in 2010) hit exactly 10 sixes in a WT20 edition.


19 – Sarfraz Ahmed now has 19 wins in the T20I format as captain of Pakistan. He is now the joint most successful T20I captain of Pakistan levelling Shahid Afridi’s 19 wins. Sarfraz led Pakistan in 22 T20Is for the 19 wins while Afridi led his country in 43 matches. Overall, only six captains have won 20 and more T20Is thus far.


56 – Number of sixes Shoaib Malik has hit in the T20I format thus far. Only Shahid Afridi (73) hit more sixes in this format than Malik among Pakistan players. Malik went past Umar Akmal’s tally of 55 sixes with the five sixes in this game.


82 – Scotland’s total of 82 in this game is their 2nd lowest total in the T20I format. They were bowled out for just 81 against South Africa in the 2009 WT20 game at the Oval.


1989 – Shoaib Malik is now the 3rd highest run-getter in the history of T20I format surpassing Virat Kohli’s tally of 1983 runs. Only Martin Guptill (2271) and Brendon McCullum (2140) have scored more runs in T20Is.
