Indian Premier League this year has been hit with a lot of injuries and has been in the news mostly for the problem it is facing. There have been a bunch of players who have either pulled out of the Indian Premier League or have been injured and are sidelined.

There are some major names who are going to miss either the start of the IPL or all of it. Some of the teams are losing their captains while some are going to miss their key players. This is a chance for the youngsters to step into the act and fill the spots. The craze for the IPL knows no bounds and these missing players will certainly have an effect on that.

We have formed a playing eleven of the players missing from this year’s Indian Premier League and this is one of the strongest teams on paper and looking at the form of each player one can surely say that this is a title winning side.

Let us get going and have a look at the players missing this year’s Indian Premier League campaign.

1. KL Rahul (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

He has been in superb form lately scoring five half centuries in four Test matches. One of the mainstays of the Bangalore side, Rahul was in terrific form last season as well. He partnered well with Gayle and almost won them the Indian Premier League.

The Bangalore-man will miss this campaign with a shoulder injury he has carried throughout the Test series against the Aussies and will be missed dearly by the RCB camp. The BCCI does not want to risk their main players in the IPL as the Champions Trophy is just around the corner.

2. Murali Vijay (Kings XI Punjab)

Murali Vijay played a handy part in the triumph over the Australians recently. He scored a wonderful fifty in the Ranchi game and helped India get a good start. The man from Chennai also missed the Bangalore test due to a sour shoulder. He captained the Kings XI Punjab side last season and was keen on getting back to winning ways this season only to be sidelined due to an injury.

Murali Vijay went under a scan of his shoulder after he felt something. However, the scans revealed that it was a more series injury than it should have been. Hence Vijay is going to miss the start of the IPL as he will recover form a shoulder injury just like his opening partner.

3. Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore) (Captain)

Virat Kohli was in terrific form during a long home season, he is the highest run-getter of this season even after flunking against the Aussies. During the Ranchi Test, the Indian Skipper fell awkwardly in order to save a boundary and injured his shoulder.

He has been in out ever since and missed the fourth Test which India eventually went on to win. The Delhi-guy will be a huge minus in the squad of RCB as he was their source of energy and everything revolved around him.

Just weeks away from full fitness, the first few matches will be a Test for RCB.

4. AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Another player from Royal Challengers Bangalore and another world class batter. De Villiars opted against participating in Test as his elbow was still recovering, however, a new thing came up while the South African star was playing for Titans in the Momentum cup in his home country.

AB de Villiers was ruled out of the final of the series with a back injury. This is a huge blow for the RCB as he was going to captain the side in the absence of Virat Kohli. ABD is one of the highest run-getters in the history of IPL and has around three centuries to his name.

There is no news yet on his injury, for now his time of his absence is indefinite.

5. Jean Paul Duminy (Delhi Daredevils)

One of the earliest stars of the Indian Premier League, JP Duminy is one of the most successful batters in the IPL and has been in some form lately. Delhi Daredevils who have been poor in the IPL for some time now were hoping for this guy to make the difference.

However, that is not going to be the case as JP has opted out of the IPL for this season. The reasons are fairly termed as personal and have not been revealed. Rahul Dravid has a task on his hands as one of his main players pulled out and replacing Duminy is a hard task.

6. Quinton de Kock (Delhi Daredevils) (Wicket-Keeper)

Quinton de Kock has been phenomenal in the Test series against the Kiwis. He was in superb form until he injured his index finger. However, he risked it and with it risked it his IPL campaign as well. This talented wicket-keeper batter has pulled out of the IPL very late and has left DD short-handed. He has pulled out in order to get himself fit for the Champions Trophy.

This will anger Rahul Dravid as he must have had plans in his mind but now has a different headache altogether. The Delhi squad is not short on number but is surely short of stars now, with not many big names in the squad, Rahul will have to bank on the youngsters. Quinton was an integral member of their squad as well.

7. Ravindra Jadeja (Gujarat Lions)

Ravindra Jadeja has out-bowled himself in the home season. He was named the man-of-the-series against the Australians and was in terrific form. But after a tiresome season and some incredible bowling, the BCCI wanted Jadeja to take some time off cricket.

He took plenty of wickets in the season and would have come handy while playing for Gujurat. The Lions will miss the superstar as he would have given their team a different dimension. His accurate left arm spinners and his natural aggression while batting is something you don’t want to miss.

8. Mitchell Marsh (Rising Pune Supergiant)

Marsh who injured had shoulder problems right through the India series was sent home to recover from it. One of the few all-rounders to have made it in the Australian team, Marsh is a handy customer. He is good with bat and has a decent right arm when it comes to bowling. He has pulled out of the IPL due to his shoulder injury and will be out for a long time as per the reports.

Marsh did not do much during the last season of the IPL but will surely be missed by his Australian teammate Steve Smith. Missing the last two Test matches and now working hard to get in shape before the Champions Trophy, which looks highly unlikely.

9. Ravichandran Ashwin (Rising Pune Supergiant)

Another superstar in this list who has been asked to rest after a wonderful and hectic home season. Ravi Ashwin is already suffering from Sports Hernia and only rest can take him out of it. He has played throughout the season with the injury and was in no mood to continue the same with the IPL.

Ashwin only managed 10 wickets in 14 games for RPS last season but was crucial for them. However, he will miss the early stages of the tournament and Steve Smith will have to Test some of his youngsters instead as he will look to turn the fortunes of the RPS for good.

10. Mitchell Starc (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

Fourth RCB player in the list and another best who has pulled out of the IPL due to injury. Starc has fractured his toe and will be out for months. His preparations and recovery process will be slow and steady as he is now aiming the Ashes in November.

Starc was the main bowler of RCB last season and was Kohli’s go to bowler as well. He was one of the many players who helped them into the finals of the season nine which they lost. Mitchell who is not only a fantastic bowler but also is a pretty handy batter will be missed by the RCB camp.

11. Umesh Yadav (Kolkata Knight Riders)

Umesh Yadav, who was the find of the series for India in the recently concluded seasons has been adviced to take rest for the first three weeks of the IPL to stay fit for the upcoming ICC event in June 2017.

Kolkata Knight Riders were relying upon him dearly but that will not be the case this year as Gambhir will have to find another speedster to fulfil his needs. KKR will be boosted by the presence of Chris Woakes and Trent Boult in the bowling line-up.
