Pakistan have had to strain a wee bit in the 2018 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They won against Hong Kong but flattered to deceive in the second match against India at Dubai International Stadium Their top order collapsed like a pack of cards after which the middle order tried to restore sanity back into the innings, but the Indian bowling bowled them out cheaply.

The likes of Rohit Sharma ensured that the target was chased down with 21 overs to spare. Their next match against Afghanistan at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi turned out to be a roller coaster ride as well. Fortunately, their batsmen came to the party and carved the Men in Green’s second victory of the multi-nation event. Their second Super 4 match against India was forgettable.

Afridi’s advice for Men in Green

The likes of Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed and Asif Ali guided Pakistan to a respectable score, however, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan cobbled together a  200 plus-run stand and took the sting out of the Pakistani bowling attack. Moreover, their fielding was also awful, to say the least. Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq gave a couple of lifelines to Sharma.

Sarfraz’s men are currently playing their last Super 4 match against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi and they need to win in order to progress to the final on Friday, September 28. In the meantime, Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistani cricketer, reckons that their batsmen need to play freely, especially left-handed Fakhar Zaman, without nurturing any sort of inhibitions.

He took to Twitter, wished the team and wrote, “Best of luck team Pakistan!! @FakharZamanLive needs to bat well for the team in helping to put up a competetive total. Batsmen should play attacking cricket. Early wickets with the new ball will play a crucial role in todays win. #HopeNotOut,”
