Shahid Afridi discloses the Indian cricketer who gave him the title 'Boom Boom'

Shahid Afridi is one of the best all-rounders in the world and he is playing the game he loves the most. His swashbuckling batting has won the matches single-handedly for Pakistan and no wonder he is the most loved cricketer in the country. Afridi is fondly known as Boom Boom Afridi for his six-hitting spree and the title suits him the best. However, the man himself has now revealed the name of the person who gave him this title.

Afridi has hung his boots from the international arena but still plays in the T20 leagues. He was supposed to be involved in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the Jamaica Tallawahs. But the knee injury forced him to pull out of the tournament at the eleventh hour.

Who is he?

Shahid Afridi was available on his official Twitter handle on Sunday for a question-answer session with his fans. One of his fans asked him about the inventor of the famous title ‘Boom Boom’. The 38-year-old then revealed that Ravi Shastri is the man who gave him the famous nickname which has become the part and parcel of his life now. Boom Boom means to smash which reciprocates Afridi’s game. Shastri turned commentator after hanging his boots and was a prominent voice in the game of cricket since then.

Afridi had begun to bloom during the early 1990s and his batting had left many oppositions perplexed. There is no surprise that he is on the top of charts for most sixes in international cricket. He smashed 476 maximums during his illustrious career and recently was joined by Chris Gayle at the helm.

Meanwhile, Shastri is also not a commentator now and he has taken over as the head coach of the Indian team after working as a manager for close to a couple of years until 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.
