Shahid Afridi, who at the moment seemingly does not have a way back into cricket apart from the few domestic leagues that he plays in has finally opened up about the manner in which the spot-fixing scandal in the onging Pakistan Super League has dominated the cricket for the most part. However, while the Board has chose to take the high road by following a process, Afridi has stated that he would perhaps make an example out of those players who are involving themselves in this terrible ordeal.

Afridi, who himself has had his name embroiled in a few spot-fixing cases in the past has stated that these cases will continue to take place unless there is a life ban on the players involved in the same.

“There is huge cricket (PSL) going on. I am only repeating what I said some years back. These things (fixing) will continue unless the board (PCB) makes an example out of those players involved in the scandal. We have been seeing and hearing these things as the old players (accused of corruption) have been called back to the team.”

Afridi went on to add that it was common knowledge among players that if a player was caught, all he had to do was serve out a five-year ban and make a comeback to cricket soon after the incident.

“Everyone knows that even if they get caught, they can serve a five-year ban and then come back to the side. (I say) ban cricket for them forever. Don’t even let them play domestic cricket. We need to set an example of such cricketers. Only then you can stop such incident,” Afridi told Geo News.
