Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has been one of the greatest cricketers the country has ever produced. He was deemed to be brash and outlandish, yet his fandom didn’t diminish at any point of his career.  The veteran has notched over 10,000 runs at the international level. Moreover, he has approximately 550 wickets for his national team.

The Khyber Agency-born cricketer is known for his swashbuckling style of play and he currently holds the record for the most number of sixes in international cricket (476) along with hulk-like Windies batsman Chris Gayle. He last played international cricket when the World XI played a T20 match against the Windies at Lord’s- The Home of Cricket, in May 2018.

He last played a competitive match for the Edmonton Royals in the inaugural edition of the Global Canada T20 at King City in Toronto. The former all-rounder has also been a recipient of severe criticism owing to the controversies he has got himself tangled in.

Yet another controversy for ‘Boom Boom’

Back in April, the 38-year-old commented about the ‘bloodshed’ in the Indian occupied area of Kashmir following which he was bashed left right and centre. Even the Indian cricketers, both former and current, didn’t mince any words while criticising him.

Back on September 6, 2018, Pakistan celebrated their Defence Day for which an event was hosted at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. During the occasion, a number of eminent personalities graced their presence, which included former Pakistani cricketer and their 22nd Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Afridi also attended the ceremony. In the meantime, Afridi was seen trying to tuck ‘tobacco’ (known as Naswar in Urdu), between his lips during the event. A video of the same went viral on the internet after which the users in the social media platforms pelted him with brickbats.

Here is how Twitter bashed him
