Shahid Afridi showers praise on MS Dhoni

The entire cricket fraternity is talking only about one person at the moment – MS Dhoni. Pakistani star player Shahid Afridi is no different. The boom boom all-rounder took to micro-blogging site Twitter to shower praise on the former Indian skipper. MS Dhoni stepped down as the limited overs skipper of the national side on Wednesday and had left all his fans shocked. Words of praise came in from all corners for the swashbuckling Indian wicket keeper.

Former English skipper Nasser Hussain went on to quote MS Dhoni as the greatest ever white ball captain. Michael Clarke, the former Australian skipper, was also in all praise for the Indian middle-order batsman. He mentioned how tough it is to lead a country like India where the passion and pressure keep on mounting each moment. Talk about passion and pressure, Pakistan cricket is no different. Shahid Afridi knows this the best.

In a recent tweet, Afridi also spoke on the same lines as he commended the brilliant captaincy tenure of MS Dhoni. He credited MS for shaping the face of Indian cricket team. He added by saying Dhoni will always be a big inspiration for all the cricketers around the globe. In a very humble tweet, Shahid Afridi wrote, “Huge credit to #MSDhoni for shaping  Indian team. Great captain and leader, big inspiration for cricketers around the world.”

It is worth noting that Dhoni’s contribution to Indian cricket has been immense. He took over as the national captain back in 2007 during the inaugural World T20 and went on to win it. Later, he led India to a successful 2011 World Cup triumph. Two years down the line from then, he helped India win the ICC Champions Trophy as well. It was under his leadership that India had first reached the top of the Test rankings as well. Clearly, he will go down as the most successful Indian captain.
