Even as the present set of cricketers are showing love, respect and empathy for each other, former Pakistan international Shahid Afridi issued a controversial statement which once again caused a stir among fans on social media. This is not the first time when the former Pakistan skipper took a dig at Gautam Gambhir, as the two often exchange words on Twitter over cricketing or political reasons.

Even though many of the former players of India and Pakistan share a great bond of respect, Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi’s relationship never improved. Their clash in the 2007 ODI at Kanpur is still what people share to hype the India versus Pakistan rivalry. On Sunday, Afridi took a step forward and said that Gautam Gambhir is even disliked by his own teammates.

Representing Samaa TV of Pakistan, the former captain said, “It’s not like I have had a fight with any of the Indian players. Yes, sometimes there are some arguments with Gautam Gambhir on social media. And I think that Gautam is a sort of character which no one likes even in the Indian team.”

The netizens expressed their views at such a disgraceful comment but were surprised to see how Harbajan Singh reacted to that. The off-spinner was part of Aaj Tak’s panel with senior journalist Vikrant Gupta and was caught laughing during Afridi’s outrageous comment. The fans, of course, didn’t like what they saw and later, not only did they defend India’s world cup hero but also raised their voice against Harbajan Singh.

India handed Pakistan their first defeat of the Asia Cup

The temperament was all cool and calm in Dubai as India registered a five-wicket win over their arch-rivals. Hardik Pandya, with his intense knock of 33* off 17 deliveries, helped India start their Asia Cup 2022 campaign with a five-wicket win.

Bowling first, the team bundled Pakistan for 147 runs, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar picking four wickets and Hardik picking three. While batting, Virat Kohli looked in good shape and scored 35, but the 52-run partnership between Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja decided the fate of the match. Pandya, for his brilliant all-round skills was also adjudged as the Man of the Match. Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh was targeted for laughing at Shahid Afridi’s comment on Gautam Gambhir.
