Shakib Al Hasan has made his way to Australia to get his finger injury looked into by the specialists. The star all-rounder was spending a bit of time with his Bangladesh teammates ahead of the start of their campaign in the Nidahas Trophy, but now he is off to Down Under where he believes he will get better treatment.

Shakib originally was named as the captain of the Bangladesh squad which is taking part in the Nidahas Trophy as the selectors thought he would recover from the finger injury he sustained playing in an ODI game against Sri Lanka back home in time, but unfortunately, the healing process took longer than expected and his name had to be withdrawn from the squad with his deputy Mahmudullah being named as the stand-in skipper in his absence.

However, Shakib still decided to hang around with the boys for a bit to boost their morale and get them in the right mindset to walk into the tri-nation T20 tournament which is going to be a tough nut for them given the quality of the other two teams involved.

Bangladesh hurting in Shakib’s absence

The Bangladeshi tigers already missed Shakib quite a bit in yesterday’s game when they lacked a wicket-taking option in the middle overs with nobody there to put brakes on the Indian batsmen who cruised their way to a target of 140 without any hiccups.  Shakib with his guile, craft, and accuracy might have posed a few challenges and not only with the ball, but he might have made a difference with the bat too.

Before leaving to Australia, the 30-year old uploaded a photo on his official Facebook page and urged his supporters to remember him in his prayers so that he can get rid of his injury quickly and can put on his Bangladesh jersey once again.

“It felt good being with the team after a while. Spent some good time with my teammates even though it was for a little time. As I’m scheduled to take off to Australia for better treatment. Everyone, please keep me in your prayers for my fast recovery so I can come back and join my team soon.” Shakib’s Facebook post read.
