Shaminda Eranga suspended from bowling in international cricket

Sri Lankan fast bowler Shaminda Eranga, has been suspended from bowling in international cricket by ICC after his bowling action found to be illegal.

Eranga was reported for a suspect action following the conclusion of the 2nd Test at Chester-le-Street but was allowed to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known. Eranga had been called for a suspect action during the second Test at Chester le street, who was about to face a bowling Test at the Loughborough University on Monday.

On-field umpires Aleem Dar and S Ravi with Andy Pycroft as match referee were the match officials in the 2nd Test, which Sri Lanka lost, and handed a report to the Sri Lanka team, cited doubts about the legality of Eranga’s deliveries.

It was also reported earlier on Sunday that, he has been hospitalized with a heart ailment in England, Sri Lanka Cricket sources said in Colombo.

The 29-year old had so far featured in 19 Tests, 19 one day internationals (ODIs) and three T20 internationals where he had picked up 57, 21 and 2 wickets respectively. He had a great memorable ODI and Test match debut. In the ODI debut, he bowled Brad Haddin through the gate, with his 2nd ball and made it even better when Ricky Ponting failed to read his slower ball and ends up giving an easy return catch.

Eranga also made his Test debut against Australia, where he became the second Sri Lankan to strike with his very first delivery when he dismissed Shane Watson.
