Shan Masood can replace Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, or Fakhar Zaman in Pakistani squad: Misbah-ul-Haq

Former Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has named top-order batter Shan Masood as a perfect replacement for skipper Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, and Fakhar Zaman in the national squad. The former Pakistani batter has stated that the team management can close their eyes and can include the left-handed batter in the squad. To note, Masood had an excellent outing during his county stint with Derbyshire where the left-handed batter amassed a total of 1,074 runs in just eight County Championship matches at an average of 82.61. Masood also stroked three centuries and four fifties. Earlier, Masood also had a good outing during the 2022 T20 Blast as he scored 547 runs at an excellent average of 45.58 and played at a strike rate of almost 140. He also smashed five fifties during the 20-over tournament. If anyone from Babar, Imam, or Fakhar is not playing, he can be included in the side: Misbah on Masood “If anyone from Babar, Imam, or Fakhar isn’t playing, you can close your eyes and get him in the side. That will be a plus and it will be a positive thing for the Pakistan side,” Misbah told Jazz Cricket as quoted by Cricwick. It must be noted that Masood was picked in Pakistan’s squad to face Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series, but the left-handed batter was not included in the playing XI in both the matches. He played his last Test match in January 2021. Masood was also ignored for the upcoming white-ball matches against the Netherlands and the all-important T20 Asia Cup. Meanwhile, the Men in Green will take on the Netherlands in a three-match ODI series slated to start on August 16. After that, Pakistan will travel to UAE for the Asia Cup.
