Former Australian spinner Shane Warne stated that the ongoing fourth Test between England and India at Southampton is ‘very evenly balanced’. The fortunes have been swinging throughout the game thus far and it is quite tough to predict as to which team has an upper hand. England fought back brilliantly on Day three on a track that wasn’t easy to bat on.

They ended the day with 260 runs on the board in their second innings and currently have a lead of 233 runs. The hosts would be wanting to push the lead further to at least 250 on Sunday and then hope to defend it. On the other hand, India will be eyeing at starting the day on a high by picking the remaining two wickets as soon as possible and give themselves a go in the chase.

Anything more than 275 will be difficult

There have been various talks about India letting the game drift away and about the poor performance from Ravi Ashwin. The Aussie legend Shane Warne also joined the conversations and shared his opinion about the current state of the game. He took it to the micro-blogging site Twitter to share his thoughts.

Despite England having a sizeable lead, Warne noted that the game is still evenly balanced out between both the teams. He also had a spare of thought for Ashwin who toiled hard throughout the day only picking one wicket. The leggie said that Ashwin was battling the expectations on him while also mentioning that Ashwin was rushing along with his action and bowling too fast.

‘Test match very evenly balanced in Southampton – anything more than chasing 275 will be difficult for India. My thoughts on Ashwin – he’s fighting the expectations that were on him as the pitch is turning – hence he’s rushing his action along with bowling consistently to fast !,’ Warne’s tweet read.
