Shikhar Dhawan, the Indian cricketer, has lent his helping hand to the ones in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. The veteran has donated oxygen concentrators in India’s fight against the coronavirus second wave. Over the last three weeks or so, the death tolls have gone up at an alarming rate and the people have been straining to find oxygen and hospital beds.

The situation has become grave to the extent that even the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League had to be postponed for an indefinite period of time. In the meantime, Gurugram police expressed their gratitude to Dhawan for his wholehearted efforts in the current scenario.

Gurugram police took to Twitter and wrote, “Taking forward our committed efforts. Grateful to @SDhawan25 for providing Oxygen Concentrators…”

In his reply, Dhawan also talked about helping out the needy in these tough times. The southpaw felt privileged to contribute in the rough phase when people are losing their lives at an alarming rate.

He replied to Gurugram police and wrote, “Grateful to serve my people in this pandemic through this small token of help! Always ready to help my people and society to my best. India shall rise and shine against this pandemic!”

Earlier, veteran actor Sonu Sood also came forward and helped Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh in getting the necessary equipment for their relatives. The actor has helped people so much that the netizens have called for him to become India’s next Prime Minister.

Replying to the talks, he said. “Hum aam insaan ache hai bhai, aam insaan better hai. Wo apna kaam nahi hai na (I am doing fine as a common man. That’s not my job).”

“Time is the biggest challenge for us at the moment and we are working our best to make sure everything comes in time and we don’t lose more lives,” he added.

As far as Dhawan is concerned, when the IPL was suspended, he was the top run-scorer. In eight matches, the left-hander had scored 380 runs at an average and strike rate of 54.28 and 134.27 respectively. He also had a top score of 92 to go with three half-centuries to his name.
