Shikhar Dhawan is one of India’s fulcrum in the national cricket team’s batting lineup. A couple of days ago, the left-handed batsman embarked on his tour of the United Kingdom (UK) where Virat Kohli’s boys will play series’ versus Ireland and England. Their first assignment will be the two-match T20I series against Gary Wilson’s Irishmen in Dublin.

The team will then move to England for three T20Is, as many ODIs followed by five Tests. The conditions in the UK favor the seamers and Dhawan’s role at the top of the order will be important. With the likes of Stuart Broad and James Anderson in the opposition camp, his task won’t be a cakewalk by any means. Meanwhile, the Delhi born cricketer took time out and met his childhood coach.

He couldn’t hold on to his excitement and posted his picture along with his tutor. He wrote, “The first match in our tour of England starts in a few days. Met up and took blessings of my childhood coach Mr.Madan Sharma ji before leaving to the UK”

Here is Dhawan’s message

Dhawan was also a part of the Indian setup during their tour of England back in 2014. He played three Tests in which he managed 122 runs at an average of 20.33. Moreover, he couldn’t notch a single half-century, which was way below than the standards he set for himself. In the ODI series, he somewhat came on to his won and racked 155 runs in four matches at an average of 51.66.

His highest of 97 came in the Men in Blue’s winning cause in Birmingham where he compiled a match-winning stand of 183 runs along with Ajinkya Rahane to help his team trace down 207 runs. Virat’s men would be hoping for Dhawan to bring forth all his experience and churn out some useful knocks.
