Shikhar Dhawan has an intelligent head on his shoulders, which is evident from the approach he employs on the cricket pitch. The attribute has earned him tons of runs, both at the international and the domestic level. He has been a prolific run scorer in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He is currently representing the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eleventh edition of the tournament.
The Delhi-born cricketer recently attended a promotional event where he spoke about his aspirations post-retirement. The left-handed batsman also mentioned the career he would have opted for had he not played the game of cricket “I would have been into the family business had I not been here. Once I finish my cricket, I will join the family business,” Dhawan mentioned.
However, this won’t be the only instance when an Indian cricketer has resorted to family ventures after hanging his/her boots from the national team. The likes of Sourav Ganguly, Sunil Gavaskar, and Kapil Dev have started their own business after bidding adieu to cricket. Also, among the current bunch of cricketers, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh have the family business.
A challenging job for Shikhar Dhawan
While Dhawan will be contemplating over his future endeavours, his current responsibility lies in guiding his IPL franchise with his prowess on the cricket pitch. He has started the tournament with a couple of stupendous knocks against the Rajasthan Royals and the Mumbai Indians, which SRH won in a canter. David Warner has been banned for a year for which the onus was on Dhawan to guide SRH.
The cricketer has trod the aggressive route and has ensured that SRH doesn’t lose any early wickets. Moreover, he hasn’t let his franchise miss the Australian cricketer. SRH have won three games on the trot and Warner will be required to carry forward his decent form in order for SRH to come out trumps.
