Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar made a silly mistake on the social media during India’s Super 4 encounter against Pakistan. The two teams were facing off for the second time in this edition of the Asia Cup. India had already won the first meeting between the two sides, having registered a convincing 8-wicket victory.

Shoaib Akhtar, who was clearly excited to witness the arch-rivals take on each other, tweeted “At the #PakvsInd match hoping to see some good cricket! #AsianGames2018,”. However, Akhtar wasn’t aware of the fact that he had mistakenly used the hashtag for the Asian Games, which is a multi-disciplinary event, in which cricket doesn’t feature at all.

However, his followers and others who are on Twitter were quick to point out Akhtar’s error. The Rawalpindi Express, as he is commonly known, was quick to delete the tweet before any further damage was done.

Akhtar wanted Pakistan to bat sensibly

Shoaib Akhtar, who has been a regular feature in the Hindi commentary box, was looking forward to India and Pakistan taking to the field on Sunday. Pakistan haven’t been at their very best as of late, and Akhtar was hoping for the Pakistani batsmen to apply themselves when facing India’s bowling lineup.

A day prior to the game, he tweeted “Big game coming up tomorrow I really hope Pak team bats sensibly till 50 over & get some early breakthrough in bowling .. Best of luck to both teams can’t wait to see a close encounter tomorrow.”

However, Pakistan were once again disappointing, not just with the bat, but also on the field. They dropped easy chances and their bowlers displayed no intent to pick up wickets. They managed a first innings total of 238, which India’s openers practically chased down themselves. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma both smashed fine centuries to bring up a 9-wicket victory for India. The defending champions have yet again made it to a final of the Asia Cup.
