Sunil Gavaskar has always been in high praise of Shoaib Akhtar, but an incident had got his attention, which made the former Indian batsman credit the Ex-Pakistan pacer for something else as well. Recently, in one of his YouTube videos, Shoaib Akhtar had suggested that India and Pakistan should play a series of three matches to raise funds.

He suggested that the funds can be used for solving the crisis of the global pandemic in both countries. After learning about this suggestion, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar had given a cheeky response. He said that the chances of snowfall in Lahore are way more than having a bilateral series between the two sides.

I enjoyed Shoiab Akhtar’s superb comeback: Sunil Gavaskar

“There are more chances of snowfall in Lahore than bilateral series between India and Pakistan. Both teams will keep on meeting in World Cups and ICC tournaments, but a series between them seems unlikely right now,” Gavaskar had said.

After hearing what Gavaskar said, Shoaib Akhtar had a hilarious response. He posted a tweet in which he had uploaded a picture of the snowfall which had occurred in Lahore in 2019. The caption of the tweet was, “Well Sunny bhai, we did have a snowfall in Lahore last year 🙂 So nothing is impossible.”

After reading the tweet by Akhtar, Gavaskar decided to reply as well. In his column to Mid-Day, the former Indian captain revealed that he has been getting many requests to join former cricketers to talk about old times and how is he spending his time in isolation. He also wrote that the enjoyed one interaction with former Pakistan cricketer Rameez Raja. He further revealed he enjoyed the bit with Shoaib Akhtar even more. Gavaskar credited Akhtar for being a fast-bowler with some sense of humour.

“Requests keep coming in to join with them (former cricketers) to relive the old times and talk about how time is spent in the current self-containment situation. It’s not easy which ones to accept and which to reject. I enjoyed the one I did with Ramiz Raja as we get along very well but what I enjoyed, even more, was Shoiab Akhtar’s superb comeback about my snowfall in Lahore comment. A fast bowler with a sense of humour. Wow, love that!” the former India captain wrote in his column Straight Drive in the daily Mid-Day.
