Former Pakistan bowling spearhead, Shoaib Akhtar is reluctant in taking up the job as the coach of the national side. Akhtar, who was always known for his exploits terrorizing the best batsmen in business on the back of his skills as a hardball bowler, isn’t really interested to adorn the office of Pakistan team‘s coach.
Shoaib, a very uneasy figure on the cricket field was mostly involved in controversies throughout his playing days. A non-reluctant personage in expressing his emotions on the field while playing for the country. He was a cricketer who gave it in the face, be it a loss or a hard fought victory, he took each result in his strides towards glory.
Available for the advice
Akhtar once again acquired headlines after him refusing to take up any role in the national team’s coaching staff. He feels satiated with the kind of life he is leading at the moment. He is now a familiar face in Pakistani media as he has indulged himself in taking up the less strenuous job of talking about the sport that he has played over the years.
Although the pacer is in a mood to decline the offer, he is up for sharing his experience with the youngsters and is always willing to lend his advice as a mentor without holding any formal role.
“I am living an easy life, don’t have many ambitions. I am always available for advice [for Pakistan team] but getting into a full-time job is not something I am looking at,” said Akhtar.
This is not something new from the Rawalpandi express, as he has always stressed on spending more time with the close ones ever since his retirement. He is not keen on following the footsteps of the former cricketing greats such as Waqar Younis, Javed Miandad and Zaheer Abbas who have been involved with the national side in some way or the other.
