Ever since the news of Sania Mirza’s pregnancy has surfaced, there has been a lot of excitement over the baby’s upbringing. Moreover, some weird questions have been asked to the Pakistan cricketer and her husband Shoaib Malik to which he has tackled quite smartly. Even the Indian Tennis Star has come up with a statement saying that she didn’t marry Shoaib to unite India and Pakistan.
Despite, making it clear time and again that she is an Indian first and then Shoaib’s wife, her nationality is questioned by the people. A new member is set to enter Malik’s family soon later this month and the excitement about his/her name is at its peak among their fans. The media has previously asked the couple about the same also indirectly pointing at the baby’s nationality.
We don’t feel it is a burden
Sania Mirza, in an interview to Sportstar Live, cleared that both, she and Shoaib Malik, don’t feel burdened about the upbringing of a child and also cleared that the family comes first for them. She also added that though they come from patriarchal societies, it depends on the attitude of a person and it changes with every individual.
“Firstly, neither Shoaib nor I look at bringing up a child as a burden. Yes, we both do come from patriarchal societies, but I think this depends on the attitude of individuals and from person to person and from family to family. The family is very important for both of us and we are looking forward, immensely, to sharing the chores associated with a new-born child.
When asked about how they’ve tackled the issue of naming the baby which will soon make their life complete, Sania said, “We have, mutually, shortlisted the names without a battle.” The Indian sports star also went on to say they will not push their child into any of the careers and the choice will be baby’s when the time comes.
