Zimbabwe have won back-to-back T20Is in resounding manner. After ending Afghanistan’s 12-match winning streak in Bangladesh, the African side has carried forward it’s form even in the Singapore tri-nation series. They didn’t have the services of Hamilton Masakadza, who retired a week ago. It was Sean Williams, who led Zimbabwe and took them to a dominating five-wicket victory over Nepal.

Their next match is against the hosts at the Indian Association Ground. Beating Singapore isn’t expected to be a cakewalk by any means. The Amjad Mahboob-led unit recently qualified for the T20 World Cup qualifiers after topping the table in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Region Final. The side remained unbeaten, winning three matches at a Net Run Rate way above the other teams.

Pitch and Conditions

The track is expected to help the spinners to a large extent. The batters need to choose their strokes wisely while facing the tweakers. The pacers may not pose that much of a threat. There are forecasts of rain and thunderstorm. Hence, the sides should opt to field first after winning the toss. The temperature will be around 28 degrees Celsius with the humidity in the 80s.

The Singapore top and middle order is in reasonable form. Surendran Chandramohan, Manpreet Singh and Tim David’s role will be important. Opening batsman Rohan Rangarajan can also get some valuable runs in the powerplay. Selladore Vijayakumar and Amjad Mahboob were Singapore’s standout bowlers in the Asia Qualifiers. Vinoth Baskaran and Janak Prakash need to deliver as well.

Chatara and Madziva are the fast bowlers.
