It was time for yet another epic encounter between India and South Africa at the mini-world cup of cricket. The stage was set as the two captains walked in for the toss with hands around their shoulders, showcasing the great camaraderie the two modern masters of the game have.  Yes, we are talking about AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli.

The two iconic batsmen for their country have developed a great bond over the years playing for the same franchise in the IPL. It was odd to see them facing off against each other in a must-win game which was views as virtual quarter-finals to progress into the finals of the Champions Trophy.

The match started off on a steady note for AB de Villiers men as de Kock and Amla looked to see off the new ball and lay a foundation for the likes of Miller, Morris, Duminy and du Plessis to capitalise on. Quinton de Kock continued his form against the Indians as he looked dangerous yet again for his 53 before he was dismissed by a beauty by Ravindra Jadeja.

That was when AB walked in with massive expectation on his shoulders as it was the perfect occasion to stand-out in the quest for his maiden ICC Trophy. With the cover drive off Hardik Pandya, Mr. 360 announced his presence in at the crease, which just a glimpse of what was to come later in the innings.

Du Plessis, while trying to steal singles and doubles, called for a tight run after pushing one to covers. Pandya was alert and gave a lightning quick throw to his wicketkeeper, and Dhoni in no time dislodged the bails to see the back of one of the most destructive batsman in the world. South Africa didn’t have the urge to resist the fall of wickets since the wicket of their captain and was eventually bundled out for 191.

Let us see how Twitter reacted to the dismissal of AB de Villiers
