Team India completed their 2022 T20 Asia Cup campaign on a high note after winning their final Super Four match against Afghanistan. Former skipper Virat Kohli was adjudged player of the match after he stroked his 71st international century.
Kohli, who made his last international century in November 2019 during a Test match against Bangladesh, was phenomenal against Afghanistan on Thursday as smoked a blistering unbeaten 122 off just 61 balls and helped his team to cross the 200-run mark easily in their allotted 20 overs.
Virat Kohli now levels with Ricky Ponting for scoring the second-most international centuries
The entire dressing room applauded as Kohli walked back to the dressing room after smashing the century. The right-handed batter was in red-hot form in the ongoing tournament. The former Indian skipper also completed the much-awaited 71st international hundred, putting him level with Ricky Ponting for the second-most international hundreds after Indian veteran Sachin Tendulkar, who has 100 centuries.
While Indian cricketers and team members were congratulating Kohli for his excellent knock, he had a small conversation with pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, which suggests how important this century was for the 33-year-old.
“Abhi hain cricket Baki (cricket is still left in me),” Kohli can be heard saying to Bhuvneshwar Kumar at the boundary line.

Talking about the match, Kohli's century helped India reach 212/2 in their allotted 20 overs, the highest total in Asia Cup so far, before veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar took a five-wicket haul, helping the Men in Blue restrict Afghanistan to 111/8 in 20 overs. It must be noted that both teams had already been eliminated from the tournament after facing defeats in their first two matches of the Super 4 against Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively.
