‘Border-Gavaskar Trophy’ - R Ashwin bosses Twitter trend with hilarious response

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is one of the most anticipated Test series in all of cricket. Over the years, India and Australia have developed a fierce rivalry and the two teams will once again face each other in India, with the series scheduled to begin on February 9.

As the excitement for the series is starting to build up, Indian spinner R Ashwin took to social media as he came up with a hilarious reply to a tweet. Replying to a Twitter user who wrote, "Boys only need one thing, and that starts with B,", Ashwin used his witty humour and wrote: "Border-Gavaskar Trophy."

If Ashwin is on fire, that might decide the outcome of the series: Ravi Shastri

Ashwin will be a key player for India if they are to win the series against Australia at home. Recently, the Australian team was even seen practising with a young bowler with a similar action to that of Ashwin to better prepare themselves for facing him.

The right-arm bowler currently sits on 449 Test wickets, and he would be looking to reach the milestone of 450 wickets in the first Test in Nagpur. Notably, the result of the series will also decide India's place in the final of the World Test Championship.

Meanwhile, in a recent interaction, former India head coach Ravi Shastri opined that Ashwin’s form will decide the series. "If Ashwin is on fire, that might decide the outcome of the series. He is world class in most conditions but in Indian conditions, he is lethal. If the ball starts spinning and there is enough bite off the surface, he will trouble most batters," Shastri told Star Sports. 

"Ashwin, you don't want him to over-plan. He is good enough to stick to his plans as he is real crucial player here. His form might decide the series. Ashwin comes as a package, he will get you important runs as well," added Shastri.
