Delhi Capitals finally registered their first win of IPL 2023 after they edged past Kolkata Knight Riders in a low-scoring thriller in Delhi. While the match wasn't a spectacle by any stretch of the imagination, KKR's hard-hitting all-rounder Andre Russell produced a bizarre moment during his side's horrendous batting display.

The incident took place during Kuldeep Yadav's over when the Indian left-arm spinner was on a hat-trick with Umesh Yadav on strike in the 15th over of the match. KKR all-rounder Andre Russell, who was at the non-striker end, switched to a batting stance, facing the mid-wicket boundary. His bizarre antics to put off the bowler in his stride took the internet by storm.

Russell cuts loose against Mukesh Kumar

The Delhi spinner was not able to dislodge Umesh Yadav, failing to claim a memorable hat trick. Furthermore, Andre Russell waged a lone war for his side in an overall disappointing batting performance. He decided to farm the strike after Umesh's dismissal and eventually decided to break loose in the final over of the first innings.

He smashed Delhi pacer Mukesh Kumar for three consecutive sixes in the final over, which included a mammoth 109-metre monstrous hit, the second biggest six of this year's tournament. His late flurry helped the two-time champions to finish with a respectable total after their 20 overs.

However, Russell's innings eventually went in vain as the home side managed to get over the line in yet another last-over thriller in this year's edition of the tournament. The Caribbean all-rounder could not replicate his heroics with the ball as he was taken for 12 runs in his solitary over of the match against a struggling Delhi batting line-up.
