A 21-year-old on Test debut, batting at number nine and arriving with Pakistan in deep trouble, Razaullah produced one of the most striking lower-order innings seen in England.
On September 11, 2026, Day 3 of the third Test at Edgbaston, he struck 81 off 63 balls, hitting four fours and nine sixes to help Pakistan post 449 in their second innings and set England a target of 130 runs. Piers Morgan praised the youngster for his feearless knock.

Pakistan's second-innings recovery and match position
Pakistan had conceded a first-innings deficit of 320 runs to England and slid to 318 for eight in their second innings before Razaullah arrived at the crease. What followed changed the complexion of the match entirely.
Razaullah and Mohammad Abbas added 121 runs for the ninth wicket from 123 balls. Abbas contributed a career-best 42, which included two sixes and five boundaries, before his dismissal ended the stand. Razaullah's first six gave Pakistan the lead. He then struck three sixes off Gus Atkinson in a single over, and a six off Jofra Archer brought up his half-century from 43 balls, the fastest fifty by a Pakistani batter on Test debut. A further six off Archer took Pakistan beyond 400. Pakistan were eventually dismissed for 449 in the final over of Day 3, building a lead of 129 runs.
Razaullah's record-breaking figures at Edgbaston
Razaullah's nine sixes equalled the record for the most sixes in an innings in England, a mark previously set by Ben Stokes during the 2023 Ashes at Lord's. His nine sixes on debut also equalled Tim Southee's record for the most sixes by any batter on a red-ball debut.
Southee had set that mark with an unbeaten 77 against England in Napier in 2008. Razaullah additionally set the record for the most sixes hit by a number nine batter in Test cricket and equalled the joint-highest score while batting at number nine on Test debut, a mark shared with South Africa's Corbin Bosch. The debutant also carried a first-class century into this Test. England require 130 runs to complete a series sweep when play resumes on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
