A fan recently confused former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik with Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey and congratulated the cricketer for a movie performance.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batter who recently announced his retirement from all formats of cricket after the IPL 2024 season, has been actively engaged in commentary roles for various franchise leagues.
Meanwhile, Massey, who is often noted for his resemblance to Karthik, has been riding high on the success of his recent films, including "12th Fail" and "Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba."
The incident took place on the social media platform X, where a user posted, "Just watched Phir Aayi Hasseen Dilruba, powerful performance by Dinesh Karthik." Responding to the fan's post, Karthik simply wrote, "Oh wow!!! Thanks."

Coaching at a professional level is incredibly exciting: Dinesh Karthik
Despite his earlier retirement announcement, Karthik recently reversed his decision by signing up to play in the third season of SA20 with Paarl Royals, making him the first Indian player to participate in this league.
The veteran cricketer has also been appointed by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as their new batting coach and mentor for the next season.
“Coaching at a professional level is incredibly exciting for me and is something I'm truly passionate about as a new chapter in my life. Hopefully, the breadth of my experiences as a player can contribute to the development of the group and bring added value,” Karthik said in a statement.

For Karthik as a player, the 2024 edition was impressive, scoring 326 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 187.35. With him coming as a coach for the new season, the franchise will have a new and fresh perspective towards batting.
