The 25th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 featured a clash between the five-time champions Mumbai Indians and the Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday, April 18.
Mumbai Indians registered their third consecutive win of the season as the Rohit Sharma-led side now seems to have found their winning way. One of the biggest highlights of their latest win against Hyderabad was the performance of Arjun Tendulkar, who made his IPL debut in Mumbai's previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium.
As Hyderabad needed 20 runs off the last over, skipper Rohit Sharma handed the ball to Arjun. The 23-year-old put in a fabulous performance, conceding just six off the last over and even dismissing Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the process. Seeing the team’s performance and Arjun’s heroics, Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to heap praise on their showing.
"A superb all-round performance by Mumbai Indians once again. Cameron Green impressed with both bat & ball. Ishan & Tilak’s batting is as good as it gets! The IPL is getting more interesting every day. Great going boys! And finally a Tendulkar has an IPL wicket," Tendulkar tweeted.
Cameron Green’s class helped MI win their third game of the IPL 2023
After losing the toss, Mumbai Indians came in to bat first. After decent performances by Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the top-order, where both batters amassed 28 and 38 runs, respectively, it was the unbeaten knock of Cameron Green that helped the side post a big total on the board.
Green scored 64* in 40 balls, and his partnership with Tilak Varma proved to be crucial for the five-time champions. After they posted 192 runs on the board, excellent performances by Piyush Chawla, Riley Meredith, and Jason Behrendorff, where they took two wickets each, helped Mumbai Indians secure a win by 14 runs.
After winning three consecutive games at the IPL 2023, Mumbai find themselves in sixth place in the IPL points table with six points in five matches. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad sit in ninth spot with four points in five games.
