Former Pakistani Prime Minister and 1992 World Cup-winning skipper Imran Khan heaped praises on pacer Haris Rauf and dubbed him as an 'excellent bowler' while speaking to the locals. After his helicopter made an emergency landing at Dera Ismail Khan while taking a trip to Bani Gala, the former all-rounder tried to initiate a lively conversation with residents of Adiala village.

The 70-year-old former cricketer asked the group of people about their favorite players as well as their thoughts on some of his own favorites. Khan commented that he had not seen many young players playing but spoke about Pakistan’s young pacer Shaheen Afridi and thereafter mentioned Haris Rauf as a great bowler.

“Haris Rauf is an excellent bowler,” Imran Khan was heard saying in the video.

It should be mentioned that Haris Rauf has excelled for Pakistan recently in Shaheen Afridi's absence, who is rehabilitating from a knee injury. Although the 28-year-old is among the greatest bowlers in white-ball cricket, he has yet to earn his Test debut. In ODIs and T20Is, he has taken 27 and 62 wickets, respectively.

Someone in the audience remarked on Mohammad Rizwan's sluggish batting style when Imran Khan asked the locals about the wicketkeeper-batter. Rizwan has faced criticism regarding his slow game, as he has been scoring runs and batting well, but the rate at which he carried out the process has been the criticism.

“Rizwan plays a lot of balls. He scores 50 of 45 balls,” a man could be heard complaining to the former captain.

Haris Rauf's impressive performances

Pakistan is currently playing a T20 Tri-series against New Zealand (hosts) and Bangladesh at Christchurch. In their recent game against the hosts, Haris Rauf picked up three wickets in the final over of his spell, which was the game’s 19th over, and handed a big blow to New Zealand when they looked to score big runs towards the end. Later, Pakistan chased down the target with 10 balls to spare and bagged a win.
