'How's that lucky one?' - Sikandar Raza unimpressed with commentator's remarks on Glenn Maxwell's dismissal
A commentator called Glenn Maxwell's dismissal against Zimbabwe 'lucky' for bowler Ryan Burl.
Zimbabwe pulled off a stunning three-wicket victory over Australia in the third ODI in Townsville on September 3, Saturday, and got a win on the board in the three-match series. Australia, however, clinched the series with a lead of 2-1, and will now go into the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand, which will commence on September 6.
On the fourth ball of the 27th over during Australia’s innings, leg spinner Ryan Burl bowled a full delivery into Glenn Maxwell’s pads. Maxwell tried to swipe at it on the on-side but instead found a leading edge. The ball went up high in the air on the off-side, and bowler Burl got underneath it and took a comfortable catch.
“See, isn’t that a lucky one! He (Burl) knows how lucky that was,” said a commentator on Fox Cricket, on Maxwell’s dismissal, who departed for 19 runs off 22 balls. And Australia were on 129 for the loss of six wickets.

While it seems unclear as to why the commentator called the dismissal a “lucky one”, it did not go down well with Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raza. He took it to social media to question what the commentator was inferring there. “How’s this a lucky one?” Raza wrote on Twitter. “Please someone help me out here.”
It was a bad day for the Aussie batters in the office, barring David Warner, who scored a splendid 94 runs off 96 balls. None of the other batters in the innings went past a score of 20, with nine players not even getting into double figures. Burl was the star with the ball, picking up five wickets for 10 runs in three overs. Australia were bowled out for 141 in 31 overs.
It was not straightforward for the visitors in the second innings but skipper Regis Chakabva led from the front and saw off the chase. He top-scored with an unbeaten 37 and took his side home in 39 overs. The pick of the Aussie bowlers was pacer Josh Hazlewood, who finished with figures of three wickets for 30 runs with two maidens in 10 overs.
