Before the final T20I match against Australia, India batter Suryakumar Yadav described his struggle with illness, saying he begged the doctor and physio to give him the required medication or injection which would prepare him for the decider game, which India then went on to win to clinch the series 2-1, and register their 22nd T20I win this year.

India defeated Australia by 6 wickets and won the T20I series 2-1 thanks in large part to Suryakumar Yadav's outstanding innings of 69 off 36 balls, which was studded with five fours and as many sixes. India overcame an early collapse thanks to Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli's vital 104-run third-wicket stand.

In a video shared by the BCCI on their official social media handle, all-rounder Axar Patel asked Yadav why he was the topic of conversation in the physio room and why he got up at three in the morning, to which Yadav said: “The weather changed last night and there has been a change in traveling. Because of all this, I had a stomach ache, then got a fever as well, but at the same time I knew that it was a decider game.”

“So I told my doctor and physio that if there is a World Cup final how will I react? I can't sit out with illness. So you do whatever it takes, give me any medicine or injection but prepare me for the evening match. And once I'm on ground in this (India) jersey then there is a different emotion for me,” he added.

India clinch the series 2-1

Speaking of the game, Rohit Sharma won the toss and put Australia to bat first, as the visitors put up 186/7 in the first innings. In response, India quickly lost both of its starting players, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. India was able to rebound thanks to Suryakumar and Virat Kohli, who helped the hosts reach 134/3 in 14 overs.

Hardik Pandya offered encouragement to Kohli (63 off 48) following Suryakumar's wicket. In the nail-biting last over, the ace all-rounder led his team to victory as India clinched the T20I series against the reigning T20 World Champions at home.
