The second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy started off well for India, but the hosts found themselves in trouble after Australian spinner Nathan Lyon dented India’s batting unit. After finishing the first day on a positive note, India lost four wickets in the first session of Day 2, and the Aussies continued to haunt India in the second session too.
But Virat Kohli’s wicket has got everyone talking. The Indian stalwart, who was anchoring India’s innings brilliantly and playing a composed knock, was dismissed off Matthew Kuhnemann's delivery which sparked controversy. During the DRS, a little deflection of the ball was seen, and there were also fans and experts who said that the ‘out’ call was incorrect.

Kohli too expressed disappointment after having a look at his dismissal. Having given out, Kohli walked back to the pavilion and joined his side in the dugout. While watching the DRS video of his dismissal closely from the dressing room, Kohli looked unhappy and was in disbelief after the umpire’s shocking decision.

After losing four wickets in the first session, Virat Kohli joined hands with Ravindra Jadeja as the duo stirred India’s innings and got the ship sailing. The two contributed almost equally in their 59-run partnership before Todd Murphy handed Australia the crucial breakthrough. Just when it looked like the duo had struck the right balance, Murphy dismissed Jadeja to put India in misery.
Kohli’s time on the crease after Jadeja’s dismissal was short as Matthew Kunhemann got the big fish. After Kohli’s dismissal, Nathan Lyon dismissed KS Bharat and completed a magnificent and record-shattering five-wicket haul. By the end of the second session, India lost seven wickets, and the two batters on the field- Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin would be hoping to form a good partnership and get their side to a decent total before the end of the second day’s play.
