In the midst of the Day 4 flurry, Rohit Sharma encountered a dicey moment when he hesitated in responding to Yashasvi Jaiswal's call, which caused a bit of a stir. In the 13th over, facing James Anderson's delivery, Rohit attempted a flick but only managed to nick the ball onto his thigh pad. With the ball landing safely, Jaiswal set off for a single. Rohit initially hesitated, but upon realising Jaiswal's commitment to the run, he eventually responded, ensuring they completed the run despite the initial confusion.
Amidst three converging fielders, Rohit Sharma exerted himself to reach the crease, fortunately, he escaped unscathed for India. However, as he made his way to the non-striker's end, Anderson initiated a brief exchange of words with the Indian captain. Rohit seemed taken aback by the unexpected confrontation, yet his response indicated he wasn't backing down either. The intensity of their expressions suggested it was more than a casual exchange, a sentiment highlighted by Ravi Shastri, who was on air.

"Just as he reached the other end, some words were exchanged between Anderson and Rohit Sharma. Positive it's not pleasantries. You always try to seize any advantage that you can, get inside the opponent's skin – be it a batter or a bowler," Shastri said on air.
Anderson pulling all stops out for breakthrough in one-sided affair
Anderson's reaction might have been influenced by his exertion in making two unsuccessful attempts to halt the ball from reaching the boundary. While addressing Jaiswal, Anderson maintained a genial demeanour, he even smiled during the exchange. On Day 4, as India surged ahead, Anderson's agility shone through when he snatched a catch at point and dismissed Jaiswal off Joe Root's delivery. With England striving for breakthroughs, Anderson's catch provided a momentary respite, striving hard to alter the course of the game as India lost their first wicket early on.
