It's a day of milestones in the Indian Premier League 2023 as Rajasthan Royals are hosting four-time champions Chennai Super Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in their 200th match in the history of the competition. Sanju Samson's side, who are playing in front of their home crowd for the first time in four years this term, are hoping to do the double on CSK on the momentous occasion.
Rajasthan Royals, who won the inaugural edition of the tournament by defeating Chennai Super Kings in 2008, will be hoping to replicate the same result in their 200th appearance in the tournament. Last year's losing finalists started IPL 2023 with a bang, winning four of the first five matches, but have lost their way after losing their last two matches.
While they will be hoping to make it two wins in two against the league leaders this season, they will have to do it without the services of star Kiwi pacer Trent Boult, who misses the game due to an injury concern. Incidentally, he also missed the reverse fixture at the Chepauk earlier this season. A win for the home side will see them climb to the top of the points table.
Ravindra Jadeja achieves incredible milestone for CSK
Meanwhile, it is also a memorable day for former Rajasthan Royals player Ravindra Jadeja as he is making his 150th IPL appearance for the Chennai-based franchise. Jadeja, who made his debut for the Royals in their title-winning campaign in 2008, was nicknamed "Rockstar" by the late Aussie legend Shane Warne.
He has been in fine form this season after an indifferent IPL 2022 and is looking like his former self after a knee injury saw him miss India's T20 World Cup campaign in 2022. Only CSK skipper MS Dhoni and former middle-order batter Suresh Raina have made more appearances for the Chennai-based outfit in IPL.
