The Indian Premier League season 16 continued to enthral the fans as Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals locked horns in Match 11 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. Delhi captain David Warner won the toss and invited the star-studded team Rajasthan to bat first.
The decision, however, backfired as Rajasthan openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler got their team off to a great start, adding 98 runs in just 51 balls. Jaiswal was at his destructive best as he got to his fifty in just 25 balls and went on to score 60 off 31, smashing 11 fours and a six before getting out to Mukesh Kumar.
Following his dismissal, captain Sanju Samson walked to the crease but returned to the pavilion for a duck. Buttler went on to score 79 off 51 and got involved in a 49-run stand with Shimron Hetmyer. Kumar got another big scalp as he dismissed Buttler in the 19th over but Shimron Hetmyer scored an unbeaten 39 off 21 balls to help his side reach 199/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
In the second innings, Rajasthan got off to a great start with the ball as well as Trent Boult bowled a double-wicket maiden as he dismissed Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey. Rajasthan got their third strike as Ravichandran Ashwin got rid of Rilee Rossouw in the sixth over.
Delhi fail to recover from Trent Boult's early blows
Seeing their side in trouble, Lalit Yadav and David Warner got involved in a 64-run partnership for the fourth wicket. However, Boult once again struck for RR as he destroyed the stumps of Lalit, who departed after scoring 38 off 24. At the other end, Warner continued to build on his innings but could not get going, as he managed 65 off 55 balls with wickets falling at the other end.
As a result, Delhi Capitals could only reach 142/9 in their allotted 20 overs, handing a win by 57 runs to Rajasthan. Boult was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with figures of 3/29 in four overs while Yuzvendra Chahal also picked up 3/27.
