The 24th clash of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 saw Chennai Super Kings piping Royal Challengers Bangalore as the visitors took the game home by just 8 runs. Living up to the expectations, both sides exhibited quality gameplay as the teams utilised the short boundaries of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to the maximum by hitting the ball out of the park as many as 33 times.

Starting the contest, Devon Conway hit six sixes in the first innings and was followed by Shivam Dube's five, as CSK piled up 226 runs on the board. The streak was then continued by the RCB batters as Faf du Plessis hit four sixes to set the ball rolling in the second innings. However, it was Glenn Maxwell who lit up the show with as many as eight sixes to lead up to his score of 76, amassed over just 36 deliveries. Suyash Prabhudesai then followed it up with two maximums but couldn't help his side get over the line as RCB ultimately finished the chase on a score of 218.

With 33 sixes, this clash propelled itself to equal the record of most sixes hit during an IPL game. Interestingly, the top three games in the chart include RCB and CSK as the two participating sides.

RCB to take on Punjab Kings on April 20

After three losses in five matches, the Faf du Plessis-led side will be keen on turning the fortunes when they travel to Mohali to take on Punjab Kings on April 20. The 27th clash of the tournament would be played on Thursday, April 20. This will also be the first game of the tournament to be played in the afternoon slot on a weekday.

Punjab Kings last had a profitable transaction with Lucknow Super Kings as they defeated the KL Rahul-led side by two wickets in a last over finish. In terms of overall performance in the tournament, PBKS find themselves in a slightly better position, having won three out of the five matches played so far, as against RCB's two wins from equinumerous matches.

RCB will then travel back to their den to lock horns with Rajasthan Royals on April 23 in their 'Go-Green' game.
