Delhi Capitals secured an eight-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants in Match 40 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, April 22. With this, DC became the second team of IPL 2025 to get to the 12-point mark.
Aiden Markram (52 off 33) top-scored for LSG. They were sent in to bat first. Mitchell Marsh (45 off 36) stitched together an 87-run stand for the first wicket. Nicholas Pooran (nine off five) had a rare tame outing with the bat. Mitchell Starc got the big wicket of the southpaw. Coming in as the Impact Player, Ayush Badoni struck a vital 36 off 21. Mukesh Kumar starred with the ball with a four-wicket haul.
There were a couple of half-centurions for DC who tracked down the target in 17.5 overs. Abishek Porel played a vital knock of 51 off 36. The two wickets to fall were courtesy Markram, who ended up conceding 30 in three overs. KL Rahul, playing for the first time against LSG after the split, ended up unbeaten on 57 off 42 deliveries. Skipper Axar Patel played an enterprising unbeaten knock of 34 off 20 deliveries.

1. Mitchell Starc cleans up Nicholas Pooran for cheap score
Pooran, who has been in rampaging form this season, had his stumps rattled by a clever delivery by Starc. The left-arm pacer rolled his fingers across the delivery, which ended up being chopped on by Pooran. This was the fifth time in 14 balls across T20S that Starc dismissed the West Indian Southpaw.

2. Mukesh Kumar gets rid of Mitchell Marsh with a peach
Marsh, who was batting on 45, looked all set to get to his half-century. However, the late dip and movement on the final ball of the 14th over proved to be too good for Marsh. Earlier in the over, Mukesh had sent Abdul Samad back to the hut.

3. KL Rahul gets going with massive maximum off Ravi Bishnoi
Rahul had only scored 19 runs off his first 20 balls. A six off Bishnoi's bowling, in which he tonked the ball towards the stands at deep midwicket, got him into the groove.
