RCB lost the match by 42 runs against SRH and slipped to the third spot in the IPL 2025 points table.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a commanding 42-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 65 of the IPL 2025 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Despite the win, SRH remained in eighth place with 11 points while RCB slipped from the second spot to third with 17 points.
Batting first, SRH posted a massive 231 for 6 as Ishan Kishan led the charge with a brilliant unbeaten 94 off just 48 balls, which included seven fours and five sixes. There were also impactful contributions from Abhishek Sharma (34 off 17), Heinrich Klaasen (24 off 13), and Aniket Verma (26 off 9) which powered them to a formidable score. For RCB, Romario Shepherd picked up two wickets for just 14 runs in his two-over spell.
Chasing 232, RCB began explosively with openers Phil Salt (62 off 32) and Virat Kohli (43 off 25) smashing the SRH bowlers to all parts of the ground during the powerplay. However, after the openers were dismissed, the rest of the batting lineup crumbled against the tight bowling from SRH bowlers.
SRH made a strong comeback which was led by Eshan Malinga, who removed the dangerous Romario Shepherd and Tim David right after Rajat Patidar was run out as RCB collapsed from 173 for 3 to 189 all out in 19.5 overs. Skipper Pat Cummins picked up three wickets for 28 runs in his four overs, including the crucial dismissal of Salt.
SRH will play their final league match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 25, while RCB will face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their last fixture on May 27.
