Lucknow Super Giants' Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has been doing the rounds ever since his on-field spat with former Indian skipper Virat Kohli during the much-talked-about clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Following his heroics with the ball against Mumbai Indians, in a losing cause for LSG, the Afghan pacer has thanked the coaching staff and management for their support.

The 23-year-old pacer from Kabul had an impressive stint with the Lucknow-based franchise in IPL 2023, scalping 11 wickets in seven outings. His best performance with the ball came against five-time champions Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator at Chepauk, where he finished with four wickets to his name.

Naveen has been subjected to trolling and criticism by fans on social media for his on-field antics and subtle digs at former RCB skipper Virat Kohli. A section of the crowd was also heard chanting the name of the former Indian skipper while the LSG pacer was fielding near the boundary ropes. While the pacer thanked LSG for their support, he took a subtle jibe at the naysayers in his latest Instagram post.

"Have lots to say but for now all I’ll say is thank you for all the love and support to the coaches, management and everyone involved in this journey thanks Lucknow Super Giants," read Naveen's post.

Naveen's heroics goes down the drain after Madhwal's carnage

Despite his antics on social media, Naveen-ul-Haq delivered the goods for the Lucknow-based franchise in their crucial clash against Mumbai Indians. He opened the floodgates for his side after dismissing Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma for his first wicket in the match. He followed it up with the wickets of the threatening Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green in one over to rattle the five-time champions.

Tilak Verma became his fourth and last victim in the match as the canny pacer helped his side wrestle back the momentum in the middle overs. However, MI's Akash Madhwal outshone Naveen with mind-boggling figures of 5/5, sealing an emphatic victory for the Men in Blue and Gold.
