Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set to square off against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), on Tuesday, April 23, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Ahead of the high-octane clash, KL Rahul heaped praise on MS Dhoni for retaining his personality, even after achieving unprecedented success.

Dhoni is the only Indian captain to win three ICC (International Cricket Council) events. He is also a five-time IPL-winning captain. The 42-year-old has also more than 17,000 runs in international cricket after playing 538 matches. He is one of the most beloved and respected cricketers of all time.

However, amid all the records and adulation, the wicketkeeper-batter has managed to keep his feet grounded and this aspect of his personality has mesmerised many. Lucknow's captain Rahul recently heaped praise on Dhoni for his ability to keep himself balanced and neutral along with sticking to his humble demeanour even after achieving such surreal success in his hall-of-fame cricketing career.

"I think how simple he has kept the game, and that is on the field. But off the field, from a personality point of view, one thing that has really stuck with me is how he has never felt that need to change his personality. He is just like so true to who he is. Really grounded, really humble, which everybody knows. But that is really hard to do when you've achieved so much and you've been such a successful captain," Rahul said in an interview with Star Sports, answering why he loved MSD.

"There's so many good things said about you, and he has always somehow been able to keep the good and the bad things away and just remain neutral and balance. He always needs to have a smile on his face. He enjoys playing the game. Whether you've won or lost, you'll always see him being the same person," he concluded.

Notably, Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul scored a 53-ball 82 in the game on Monday, April 19, to help his team chase down the target of 177. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni continued defying his age, as he slammed 28 off nine balls. Consequently,  this propelled Chennai Super Kings to post a decent total.
