The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans were stunned on Saturday (August 12), as the team's 'X' account 'RCBTweets' was deactivated abruptly for a few hours. Everyone was taken aback by the aforementioned incident as the account was particularly active until last night.

Many speculations arose as it might be the franchise's strategic step to revamp the account. Meanwhile, the account was restored after some time which implied that it might be an accidental deactivation. In addition, the account returned with a crazy number of followers.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have had a forgettable campaign in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). They concluded the season in sixth place, having won only seven of their 14 games with a total of 14 points. The Bangalore-based franchise's dream of winning the first-ever IPL title has extended, as they fell short in the race for a playoff berth.

However, The IPL 2023 witnessed the exhilarating performance of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. Du Plessis and Kohli were the leading run-scorers of RCB, having scored 730 and 639 runs, respectively. Meanwhile, Mohammad Siraj was their key bowler, having picked up a total of 19 wickets at an average of 19.73. The recently concluded tournament also saw some outstanding performances by youngsters in the Faf du Plessis-led side.

RCB appoints Andy Flower as new head coach

Earlier in August, RCB announced the appointment of their new head coach Andy Flower for the 2024 season. The former Zimbabwean cricketer will succeed Mike Hesson, the Director of cricket operations, whose tenure with the three-time finalists ends on August 31. Additionally, apart from Hesson, head coach Sanjay Bangar and other coaching staff might also make their exit from the franchise.

Flower was previously serving for the 2022 debutants Lucknow Super Giants. Despite making it to two consecutive playoffs in the IPL, the KL Rahul-led side decided to part ways with the 55-year-old. Before he joined Bangalore, other franchises had shown interest to bring Flower in, including the likes of 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.
