Sarfaraz Ahmed had endured the lowest point in his professional career after the conclusion of the 2019 World Cup. He was sacked from Test and T20I captaincy with Pakistan failing to make the semis in the World Cup and was also slowly shown his way out of the national team.
Even though Ahmed was included in the Pakistan squad as a reserve stumper thereafter, he was made to warm the bench and was also seen carrying drinks for the players during breaks.
Now, life has finally come full circle for Sarfaraz as he scored a match-saving 118 against New Zealand in the just concluded second Test match at his hometown Karachi. After that impactful innings, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter has once again grabbed the spotlight after he liked a tweet featuring the current Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.
When Sarfaraz Ahmed had taken a couple of runs and completed his fourth Test century by working a delivery bowled by Matt Henry to the off side, he got a standing ovation from the spectators, his wife and teammates. A jubilant Babar Azam was seen celebrating the occasion in ecstasy.
However, a fan went too far when he posted the picture on social media allegedly claiming that Babar was just acting to praise Sarfaraz Ahmed as he was the one who ensured that the former skipper remained benched since 2019.
“4 saal se water man rakha Or Ajj acting To dekho Koi sharam hai na koi Haya”, the fan tweeted.
While the tweet went viral on social media in no time, it got more weightage after Sarfaraz himself apparently came forward and liked the tweet. The screenshot of the veteran stumper liking the tweet criticizing Babar Azam has since been doing rounds on the internet. Take a look.
