‘Wedding on the cards for Gill?’ – GT Captain drops a cheeky hint at the toss

Shubman Gill provided an update regarding when he was planning to get married ahead of the commencement of the ongoing IPL 2025 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Eden Gardens on Monday, April 21. Renowned broadcaster and former New Zealand cricketer Danny Morrison brought up a rather unexpected topic during an interaction with the GT skipper at the toss.

While discussing Gill's team combination for the game, the witty Morrison shifted focus to Gill’s dazzling appearance and asked whether he was planning to tie the knot soon. Shubman Gill was amused by the question and denied the notion with a wide smile on his face.

"You're looking good, wedding bells around the corner? Getting married soon?" asked Morrison.

"No, nothing like that!" replied Gill.

There have been countless rumours surrounding Gill's love life in recent times. He has been linked with a few prominent personalities. However, Gill clarified any lingering speculation about his personal life on Monday.

Gill lost the toss to Ajinkya Rahane, with the KKR skipper opting to field first. GT went ahead with an unchanged playing XI from their recent seven-wicket victory against Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 19. Jos Buttler was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant outing with the bat. He remained unbeaten on 97 off 54 deliveries and also took a couple of catches in the first innings.

GT's strong start in IPL 2025

As far as IPL 2025 is concerned, GT have started their season in fine style. In their first seven games, they have managed to win five. Their only losses have come against Punjab Kings (by 11 runs) and Lucknow Super Giants (by six wickets) in Ahmedabad and Lucknow, respectively. Their most comprehensive victory came in a 58-run win against the Rajasthan Royals.
