The friendly banter between Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer continues on social media as the former England skipper this time called Jaffer out and trolled him after being named as the new batting coach of the Punjab Kings. The Mohali-based franchise is currently going through a restructuring phase and changed many of their coaches, which eventually brought Jaffer back into the scheme of things ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

The former India opener was part of the franchise from 2019 but decided to step down from the role of a batting coach ahead of the mega auction in 2022. However, the franchise once again hired him and handed him the same responsibility he once had.

Seeing the announcement, Michael Vaughan took to Twitter and questioned the credibility of this move. Vaughan reminded everyone how he being a part-time bowler clinched Jaffer’s wicket in the past and thus, in a lighter tone expressed his shock following his appointment. “Someone who got out to me is a batting coach !!!!!!!!!!!!” the former cricketer tweeted.

PBKS going through a massive overhaul ahead of IPL 2023

The Punjab Kings franchise once again has undergone a massive restructuring phase that saw the introduction of Trevor Bayliss as their head coach, Brad Haddin as their assistant coach, Charl Langelvedt as the bowling coach for the franchise while Jaffer as the new batting coach. The 2014 IPL finalists have also let their captain Mayank Agarwal leave, as they didn’t retain the 31-year-old.

Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan, who has experience captaining the Hyderabad side in the past has been appointed as the new skipper of the franchise. The team also released several other cricketers like the Caribbean all-rounder Odean Smith, Prerak Mankad, Writtick Chatterjee, Ishan Porel, Vaibhav Arora, Benny Howell and Sandeep Sharma. They now have INR 32.2 crores in the bag to spend in the upcoming IPL mini-auction.
